| KS3
After-School Club |
| Dear Parents and Guardians,
|
| We would like to remind parents that the new
KS3 After-School Club has now started. Initially it is
running on Mondays and Thursdays in the Youth Centre from 4.00
- 5.30pm. |
| All children in KS3 (Years 7 to 9) are welcome
to attend at a cost of £1.50 per session. Pupils can stay
for part or all of any session and must sign in and out. The
activities on offer include table football, table tennis, board
games, homework support and outdoor recreation. |
| There is the opportunity for pupils to purchase
snacks and drinks (cash only, sorry no cashless catering cards).
The club will be fully supervised by qualified staff at all
times. |
| The club is primarily intended to provide a
safe place for children who are unable to get home after participating
in a school activity or using the library or whose parents may
not be at home until early evening. However, any child who would
like to attend is welcome regardless of whether there is a parent
at home. All pupils attending the after-school club must stay
on the school site between 2.50 and the club opening. |
| It is not necessary to book in advance; pupils
can just turn up at 4.00 after finishing their extra-curricular
activity or library study. |
| We welcome your support for this new initiative
in order that we will be able to continue to run it next term.
|
| If you have any questions please contact me

| Thank you for your interest. |

| Year
7 PLG (Beaumanor Hall) |
| Dear Parents/Guardians, |
| Year 7 Parent Liaison Group
Meeting |
 |
Please come to the PLG on Thursday 24 January
at 7.30pm in the main school hall. We will be talking to you
about the Year 7 residential week at Beaumanor Hall in Leicestershire
this summer. |
| This meeting is for parents only please. We
would like the whole experience to be a surprise for Year 7
so we would ask that Year 7 pupils do not come with their parents
to this meeting. Let me know if this is a problem for you. |
| Best wishes, |
Mrs Mary Swarbrick [

| Learning
Styles and Memory |
 |
During
a recent Year 7 PLG, parents were given a PowerPoint presentation
on learning styles and memory. The presentation will also be
given at other parent meetings later this term. |

| The PowerPoint .ppt presentation
is of relevance to any pupil seeking to improve their memory
but is probably most useful for parents and for pupils studying
at KS3. |
