| Comberton Village College

to contribute ideas for the new plan. |
| If you feel that there are priorities that
we need to address within this plan I would be grateful if you
would let us know via developmentplanning@comberton.cambs.sch.uk

| Online
Pupil Absence Notification |
 |
If
your son or daughter has to miss school, you are required to
inform CVC. |
| For
'same day'/short term notifications, one option is for parents/carers
to register pupil absences using CVC's online Notification
Form (shown left). You will need to know your child's
tutor group and the name of their form tutor. |
| Parents/carers
should notify pupil absences as soon as possible, ideally by
8.30am on each morning of absence. |
| If
the pupil is absent from school and a notification of absence
is not received, the college may record an 'unauthorised absence'
(i.e. truancy) against the pupil. |
| For information and general guidance,
please see Absence
from School. |

| Register
with ParentMail |
 |
All CVC
parents should be registered with ParentMail
in order to receive general school communications by e-mail.
|
| This can be done by clicking
the image (left) to go to the ParentMail
site. Then select
'Parent Entrance' and then follow the instructions to register.
You will then receive all general school communications directly
to your e-mail inbox. |
| This saves
time and trees! |
| If any parents
wish to continue to receive paper copies of general communications
then these need to be requested from the school office. |

| New
CVC Fleeces Now Available! |
 |
The school
has introduced a warm fleece as an addition to the existing
CVC
uniform. Although the new CVC fleece is not intended as
a compulsory item of uniform, pupils may wear them in school,
in classrooms and during lessons. |
| The CVC
fleeces are available in mid-grey with yellow logo (to match
the CVC sweatshirts). The black option is reserved for Year
11s. |
|
If you pre-ordered a fleece before half-term, then your order
is now available for collection (and payment!).
|
| Fleeces are now in stock and available
from the School
Shop. |

| The
CVC Trust Fund |
 |
The Comberton
Village College (CVC) Trust Fund was established in 1984 as
a body to generate additional funding to support the work of
CVC both for its pupils and the wider community. It is a registered
charity. |
| All funding received by the Trust
is used exclusively to improve facilities and equipment at the
school. In the past, the Trust has provided financial support
towards the purchase of a minibus, ICT and audio-visual equipment.
|
| If you are a taxpayer and you make
a donation, we can claim Gift Aid back from the Inland Revenue
for this financial year. This means that for every pound you
donate we get an extra 28p. If you can spare £100, CVC
will get £128 to spend on equipment for your child to
use. |
| The Trustees' next target is to
raise £10,000 by Easter 2008 to provide match funding
for a brand new minibus for CVC that can be used by both able
and wheelchair users. |
| The Principal's Ball on
Saturday 1 March, 2008. Plans are coming together for the 3rd
Principal's Ball which promises to be a stupendous night. Please
contact us if you are willing to help. |
| For further information about giving
to the Trust Fund or helping with its work, please see our web
page at Trust
Fund, our 2007
brochure (.pdf) or contact the Trustees by e-mail at
. |

| School
Uniform Rules OK! |
| Your son or daughter
may claim CVC's School Uniform is a hodgepodge of unrelated
garments in a multitude of styles and colours. They may tell
you that jewellery, make up, long nails and extreme haircuts
are not only perfectly acceptable, but considered compulsory
by Year 10. You may even be told that teachers welcome, and
positively encourage, the use of mp3 players and texting on
mobile phones during school lessons! |
| Well, not quite... |
| "Comberton Village College maintains a
strict uniform policy to provide a corporate student identity
and to ensure a smart appearance appropriate for a place of
work. The uniform requirements are straightforward as they are
simple and the school expects every member of the student body
to meet the standards in full." |
| So to counter all possible pupil-sourced misinformation,
please see Uniform
Rules: Overview (.doc) for full details of CVC's policy
on uniform and appearance at school. If you'll forgive the gratuitous
plug (how shameless is this!) the School
Shop web page may be of possible interest.... |
